Useful Apps and Tools for Freelancers

As a freelancer, you must invest in the right tools that can help you run your freelance business smoothly and efficiently. There are many available apps and online tools that you can use for free, and there are also apps that you have to buy to be able to use. Here are six of the most useful tools that you can start using to make your work easier and more organized.

Dropbox

Back up important files and your portfolio safely without having to use up your device’s internal memory and without the need to purchase expensive external hard drives. Simply use Dropbox‘s cloud-based storage with no hassle. Just set up an account for free. Invite people to open an account and you get to enjoy free additional storage space. There’s a premium service being offered as well, which allows you access to as much as 1TB of storage.

Asana

If you work with a team, Asana is a great tool to keep you updated on the project status and communicate quickly with other members of the team. There’s a free account that you can set up if you have less than 15 people on your team, and there’s also a premium account that you can subscribe to for roughly $9 a month if you want to use more features.

What’s great about this tool is that you can create to-do lists, assign tasks, check off lists, have conversations with other team members, and share photos, videos, and links for everyone to see. The dashboard looks clean and uncluttered, and it provides easy navigation to keep you working productively.

Teux Deux

If you’re not too crazy about the default notepad app on your iPhone, Teux Deux is a good alternative. It’s simple, clean, and easy to use. Just create lists and check off lists!

You can log in using your computer or use it on your mobile device with no problem. To use its services, you have to pay $3 a month, or $2 a month if you pay for 12 months. You can easily cancel your subscription – that’s a good thing, too.

Canva

You can easily create professional-looking images with beautiful filters and texts through Canva. It’s a free service, but you can also avail of its premium services for a fee. There are templates that you can also purchase for $1 if you can’t find the one that you need in its free library of images.

Hootsuite

If you run different social media campaigns for your business or your clients, you just don’t have the time or the energy to log in individually to different social media accounts to post fresh new content each and every time. This is where Hootsuite can make your life a whole lot easier.

You can enroll different social media accounts, like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram, and schedule your posts for the entire week—even the entire month. You can also see different messages, tweets, comments, and replies in one stream, per social media account.

Kami

Kami is a great document viewer that you can use straight from your Chrome browser, and it works seamlessly with your Google Drive. It allows you to easily share, annotate, and collaborate your files. You can use it for free or upgrade to a premium account to access more features.

Working with PDF files is a lot easier with Kami because you can highlight, strikethrough, underline, comment, add texts and shapes, draw, sign, and erase as easily as you can on actual paper.
