If you want to be truly, ridiculously happy, there are some things in life that you need to give up. These are things that are mostly negative and unhealthy, which keep you from unlocking your full happiness potential. Building and maintaining a career is challenging, and you need to take care not to let it ruin you.

Here are six of those negative and unhealthy things you must remove from your work life ASAP.

Complaints

We’ve all worked with that one person who complains every day about his or her job. Can you imagine living your life and only seeing the fault in everything and grumbling about why things don’t work out the way you planned them? You will find that people who complain endlessly don’t last long in their current position, and that isn’t because they were promoted to the job they think they are worthy of.

Control

You can’t tell people how to act, what to think, and what to feel. You can’t control everything that happens in your life. Good things will happen, and so will bad things. You can’t keep avoiding these things forever, so just let life happen to you, and trust in the journey.

Excuses

You have to own up to your actions. Be mature enough to accept responsibility for your own choices. Making up excuses for bad behavior or wrong decisions will not give you a happy and positive life. It’s not a courageous way to live and certainly not a proud one. Employers respect honesty as it creates an environment of trust and support.

Regrets

There’s no use crying over spilled milk. There’s no sense thinking about all the things you should’ve done. That chapter of your life is over, and you can never take it back. You should learn from it and not make the same mistake again. Forgive yourself so that you can move on.

Stress

It’s keeping you from living your best life. Everybody wants to give up stress, but as long as you’re living, you will be dealing with stress. The trick is to keep the stress at bay by having a good work-life balance and a strong sense of inner peace.

Bad Habits

They can only bring you harm and negativity, no matter how good they make you feel. That good feeling is temporary, and it’s the only good feeling that isn’t even good at all. You need to stop feeding your mind and body with the bad stuff to truly let the good and positive ones in, and there’s no better time to do it than now!
