College students have to go through a lot of books, articles, reports, lecture notes, and other documents per semester. I think you can imagine carrying all of the above with you every time you go to class. (Many of us will remember the struggle.) Luckily, because we live in the digital age, we are now able to store such files digitally, so you don’t have to bring them physically. However, a lot of apps or online tools are only file readers and do not allow editing. This is a problem because you won’t be able to add your notes, put comments when proofreading a paper, or highlight important details.
There are tools that enable you to do all of this and more, but they are usually quite expensive. What you need is an efficient, easy-to-use document viewer and editor that will not hurt your pockets. Kami, formerly known as Notable PDF, is just the tool that every college student needs.
Why do you need Kami?
There are a number of reasons that make Kami ideal for college students.
Kami’s free version has the basic features that enable you to view the file in a browser, share files with others, highlight, underline, strike through text, add texts and comments, and reply to others’ comments. The free version can already do so much that you might no longer need to pay for an upgrade.
Gone are the days when you have to carry books, papers, and files. With Kami, you can upload, store, and access your files online through Google Drive. This allows you to save memory space on your computer and lets you share files with your teachers or classmates easily. You can also work offline once you’ve accessed your documents.
Supports different file types
Kami supports some file types, so there’s no need for separate apps or tools. It can open PDF Files, Google Docs, Microsoft Word (.docx) files, as well as common image files like .jpg, .jpeg, .png, and .gif.
Reader and editor
Note-taking and proofreading has never been easier. With Kami, you can directly add your notes and annotations on the document. You don’t have to print them out to add your comments or revisions. Just retrieve the file from your drive and you’re all set.
Easy to use
Kami is an online tool that works with any browser. This means that you don’t need to download and install other browsers or applications. Once the program is launched, you simply drag and drop the file you want to view or edit. It also has a very user-friendly interface with all the important tools you need visible and easily accessible.
Key Tools You Need for Your College Reading
Kami provides you with tools that make note taking in the classroom a breeze. You can use the “Highlighter” tool to mark important details. Just click on the highlighter in the toolbar, select the text you want to emphasize, and choose your desired color. You can also add your notes or something that the professor said that you want to take note of by clicking on the “Add Text” tool. Enter the text and then change the color or size. You can move the text box to any spot on the document so it won’t obstruct the original text.
Since research papers are almost always part of your college subjects, there are several editing tools that are essential when you proofread them. Kami’s toolbar includes the “Underline” tool for marking text that needs formatting changes or minor revisions. Use the “Strikethrough” to indicate the part that you want to be removed or replaced. Simply click on the tool you want to use and select the part of the text you need to revise.
After marking the text for revisions, Kami allows you to annotate or add comments that specify the corrections that should be made. Just click the underline or strikethrough line and click the talk bubble icon, then write down your comments or annotations. These will then appear in the space beside the document. Once you are done and ready to share your file, you can opt to allow others to see your comments and let them add their comments to the document. This option is very useful, especially for collaborative and peer editing.
Kami is a simple yet powerful app that’s going to help you with your readings and research papers. So what are you waiting for? Start using it now!
Kami is offering a Premium account to students from selected universities. If you are enrolled in one of the universities listed here, you are eligible to get a free upgrade.
